Application of Fiberglass in the Field of Construction

Fiberglass is widely used in the construction areas. Fiberglass Wool (also called Glass Wool), Fiberglass Mesh, Fiberglass Tissue are the excellent building materials. Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic can be made into a series of products for the field of construction.

 

Glass Wool including Glass Wool Blanket, Glass Wool Board and Glass Wool Pipe takes glass as the raw material. It is an inorganic non-metallic product with the advantages of light weight, thermal insulation, heat preservation, sound absorption, waterproof and good chemical stability. In the past, asbestos was used as the heat preservation building material. Asbestos has good thermal insulation property and its price is low. However later people found that asbestos has toxic substance. People working in this industry are easy to catch lung disease. Today many countries are prohibited to use asbestos. Glass Wool is an environmentally friendly material. It doesn’t contain harmful substances to human health or environment. Now the exterior walls of many buildings use glass wool as the thermal insulation, heat preservation and water proof materials. Glass Wool can keep the houses cool in summer and warm in winter and also can prolong the houses’ life, so it can save energy and cost. Glass Wool also can be used as the interior wall and ceiling materials, because it has the properties of high strength and sound absorption. Many people dislike noise. They don’t like to be disturbed by the noisy environment. The centrifugal glass wool fiber is fluffy and staggered. It has a large number of tiny pores which can block the noise, so it is a typical porous sound absorption building material. Glass Wool features waterproof, anti-mildew, anti-aging and anti-corrosion. It can be used as the waterproof roofing material to protect the roofs from leakage and also can be used to reinforce the roofs.

 

Fiberglass Mesh is woven from fiberglass yarn and then surface treated with acrylic acid resin. After drying, the product is finished. Fiberglass Mesh is a new type of alkaline resistant building material with the advantages of high tensile strength, good adhesion, high corrosion resistance and fine weathering quality. The product is adhered to the external and internal walls of the building to strengthen the walls and protect the walls from transfiguration and cracking. Fiberglass Mesh is a waterproof roofing material which has good compatibility with bitumen and cement and can enhance the strength of the roofs to prevent the roofs from leakage. Fiberglass mesh can be adhered to the back of the stones like marble, granite and mosaic to prevent them from cracking. It can evenly spread the stress on the stones to reinforce and protect them.

 

Fiberglass Roofing Tissue is a non-woven thin felt made of fiberglass chopped strands. The product is mainly used as excellent substrates for waterproof roofing materials. It can strengthen the roofs of the houses and prevent the roofs from leakage. Fiberglass Roofing Tissue is characterized by high tensile strength, uniform fiber distribution, excellent waterproof property, weathering resistance, easily soakage by bitumen and coal tar enamel. The product is not easy to crack, ageing and rot. The whole width of the tissue can be further reinforced with glass yarn to enhance its strength and tear resistance. It is an excellent waterproof building material.

It can be made into a variety of building components and products with high strength and various shapes. Glass fiber cement products can be used for many years to save the cost. Fiberglass Woven Roving and Mat can be combined with chemical resins such as polyester resin, epoxy resin to make fiberglass reinforced plastic (FRP).
