Glass fiber cloth, also called fiberglass cloth, is an inorganic non-metallic fabric woven from glass fiber yarn. It is a composite material for making fiberglass reinforced plastic (FRP). The cloth can be made into welding blanket, fireproof clothing, fabric expansion joint and used as wrapping material for petrochemical pipelines, chemical equipments and so on. Fiberglass cloth can be widely used in marine, automobile, construction, petrochemical, metallurgical, electrical and other industrial fields. There are high quality glass fiber cloth and poor quality cloth. How to distinguish the quality of the fiberglass cloth is important. Today, we are talking about four ways of distinguishing the quality of them.
1. Through observing the appearance of the glass fiber cloth, we can learn if the quality of the glass fiber cloth is good or poor. The appearance of the good quality glass fiber cloth is relatively clean. The warp yarn and weft yarn of the small grid are uniform and straight. It has good durability and long service life. The pores of the cloth are also relatively uniform. The small grids of the poor quality glass fiber cloth are not neat and uneven. The properties of the cloth are not as good as the good quality cloth.
2. Good quality glass fiber cloth has good chemical stability and good chemical resistant property. It can resist acid, alkali and many chemical substances. It also has good water resistance property, cement corrosion resistance and other corrosion resistance. The high quality fiberglass cloth has relatively high safety use.
3. By looking at the color of the glass fiber cloth, we can judge the quality of the glass fiber cloth. The high quality glass fiber cloth has high gloss. It feels smooth and is woven uniformly. The poor quality glass fiber cloth is not as smooth as the high quality cloth. It has more thorns and is easy to prick the hands. Its color is dark and cloudy.
4. Through stretching the glass fiber cloth by hands, we can judge the quality of the glass fiber cloth. The good quality glass fiber cloth has high tensile strength and is not easy to deform when stretching it. After stretching, the cloth can be restored to the original state, however, the poor quality glass fiber cloth is easy to deform. After stretching, its deformation will be difficult to restore to its original state. This will affect the use of the cloth.
